According to a recent National Survey of Mental Health and Well being before the impact of COVID-19, approximately one-in-five adults experienced some sort of mental health concern during the last 12 months and almost half the Australian population will experience a mental disorder in their lifetime.

The most common forms of mental heath issues include:
Depression.
Anxiety
Alzheimer's Disease
Dementia
Substance abuse

Of these conditions, depression is the most prevalent, making it an especially large concern among mental health practitioners.

At BMC Camberwell we have experienced and compassionate GP's who have additional training in mental health and also able to provide referrals to Psychologist or Psychiatrists if required.  In addition we have our own on-site Mental Health practitioner available.

With a Mental Health Care Plan (MCHP) prepared by our GPS, you are entitled to a Medicare rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. Please note most psychologist charge a small gap above the Medicare rebate.

Please book an appointment with our GP who will conduct a full mental health assessment before providing a plan if youmeet the requirements under Medicare.
